CHIEF of NURSE
The provision of comprehensive, safe and quality nursing care is central to the delivery of quality assurance in patient care provided by the Quezon City General Hospital.
Guided by this vision of the hospital as a center of excellence among local government hospitals in the Philippines, nursing at QCGH upholds to the health care practices and standards set by the organization.
The essence of nursing is in the context of caring, whether at the out-patient department or at the clinical areas. Nursing care is critical to the delivery of high quality efficient care. Nurses are actively involved in improving both the quality and the efficiency of hospital care. They perform a variety of role in practice, leadership, training and quality improvement. Thus they have a strong representation in the different hospital and administrative committee, from the front -liners to the middle managers, to the departmental levels and to the executive level.
The Nursing Service functions within the concept of shared responsibility and maintains a collegial relationship with the other hospital services. Empowerment at all levels is enhanced in order to effectively influence the development of systems and processes.
SCOPE.
The scope of Nursing Practice encompasses a 24 hours comprehensive safe and quality nursing care to all patients.
VISION.
An allied medical service providing holistic and comprehensive quality nursing care to all, regardless of sex, race, developmental stages in life, creed, religion and socio-economic status, utilizing the dynamic, innovative setting or service through continous quality improvement and team approach to produce professionally effective health care providers.
MISSION.
1.To continuously respond to the ever changing total health care needs of the patient by providing a safe, patient-centered quality nursing care.
2.To utilize the nursing process effectively.
3.To maximize the use of manpower resources, technology, equipment and other related resources.
4.To help save lives, alleviate suffering, restore health, prevent diseases and its complications, disability and deformity.
5.To promote the patient’s welfare, safety and comfort.
OBJECTIVES:
1.To render the optimum level of nursing care in which the physiological, psychological, social, spiritual needs of the patient are met and given without discrimination.
2.To continuously evaluate the quality of nursing care services in order to measure achievements and identify problem areas which are vital to planning and programming.
3.To coordinate the function of the department of Nursing Service with the function of all other departments and services.
4.To participate in the formulation of policies and evaluate their effectiveness.
5.To participate in studies or research designed for improvement of patient care and services.
QUALITY POLICY.
The Nursing Service is committed to deliver quality health care services through compassionate, caring and competent health care nursing staff.
NURSING STANDING COMMITTEES
Under the leadership of the Chief Nurse, the Nursing Service Standing Committees shall fulfill their tasks and commitment as chair and members of the committees that will lead to quality outcome with near – zero complaint.
1.Nursing Service Audit Committee
Examines, evaluate, and verifies patient care services in the content of Nursing Service.
2.Nursing Service Disciplinary Committee
Receives and reviews occurrences within the service in order to expedite fair adjustment in accordance with the policies provided by the hospital and the Civil Service Commission
3.Nursing Service Promotion and Evaluation Committee
Screen, interviews, evaluates and recommend candidates for promotion to vacant positions of the nursing service
4.Nursing Service Staff Development Committee
Plan for the whole year training program and seminars to upgrade the performance of the nursing staff through the introduction of new concepts, increase knowledge in problem solving and development of good working relations and positive attitude towards work.
5.Continous Quality Improvement Committee
Reviews, evaluates, revise and improve nursing care processes and practices directed at both quality and efficiency.
Nurses play a key role in promoting the wellness of the patients of the hospital by participating in a wide range of services and committees. Among the different Hospital Committees that they are involved in are:
