HEAD OF THE LABORATORY
The Head of the Laboratory is responsible for the overall operation and administration of the Laboratory, including the employment of competent personnel, equipment, safety, laboratory policies, quality assurance, all testing including proficiency testing and test reports.
TRAINING OFFICER (Medical Specialist)
The Training Officer in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology is responsible to facilitate the conduct of the training sessions, manage feedback sessions to ensure continuous improvements of training.

Evaluates tissue specimens, which include cervical scrapings (i.e., PAP smears), biopsies, surgical resections, and whole-body evaluations at autopsy.

CONSULTANT PATHOLOGIST
- ANATOMIC PATHOLOGIST
Evaluates tissue specimens, which include cervical scrapings (i.e., PAP smears), biopsies, surgical resections, and whole-body evaluations at autopsy.
- CLINICAL PATHOLOGIST
- Supervises, assess testing and analysis of samples as referred by the Pathology Resident and Medical Technologists to determine health and pathology of patients.
- Document findings and conclusions, and make recommendations.
PATHOLOGY RESIDENT PHYSICIAN
- Rotates in autopsy program of laboratory sections.
- Hospital responsibility in finalizing protocol except in most difficult cases.
- Rotates in surgical pathology sections, grossing and dissection of pathology referrals and reads histopathology slides with the consultant.
- Assist staff pathologist at the interdepartmental CPC and tumor board conferences.
- Present an investigative work at the end of the residency training.
- Assists in the teaching program of post graduate interns.
- Schedule and present cases to be taken up during gross and microscopic conferences.
CHIEF MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST
The Chief Medical Technologist plans, organises, directs and coordinates a range of activities in the laboratory. Performs administrative duties, supervises and assists Laboratory personnel, and oversees everyday laboratory operations. Manages and coordinate the financial, human and material resources of the laboratory.
- Supervises and directs the performance of the Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Technician, Laboratory Aides and Volunteers in their performance at the Laboratory
- Validates laboratory tests results before releasing.
- Consolidates proposed and approved Project Procurement Management Plan for validation and approval of the Head of the Department.
- Receives referral from Section heads regarding stocks of supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies if deemed necessary. Verifies receipt of supplies.
- Resolves problems by consulting with Pathologists and laboratory section heads and technical coordinators.
- Monitors and updates the Department’s license, accreditations, and external Proficiency assessment programs.
- Provides administrative support for the hospital, attends emergency and committee meetings.
- Attends seminars, forum, and conventions for continues professional development.
- Functions as the department’s customer support officer.
- Reports to the Head of the Department
MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST (SECTION-IN-CHARGE)
- Responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Section.
- Runs calibration and quality control both internal and external to ensure that the machine is working and in good condition before conduct of test procedures to generate accurate test results for patients and help the clinicians for the correct diagnosis of the disease.
- Trains and mentors junior staff on the right use of equipment, validation and recording and laboratory safety.
- Maintains laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies and refers to the Chief Medical Technologist for procurement concerns.
- Prepares proposed and approved Project Procurement Plan of each section assignment.
- Prepares and presents monthly section report in the department’s monthly meeting.
- Manages and resolves administrative and technical problems
MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST (SENIOR)
- Prepares human body fluid samples and performs assays in each Section of assignment.
- Review and validates results prior to release of official result in each section of assignment.
- Performs simple to complex machine trouble shooting, whenever possible receives remote instructions from authorized service provider.
- Prepares and files necessary documents needed for laboratory operation and accreditation.
- Teaches and prepares final assessment of Medical Technology Interns.
- Refers to Chief Medical Technologist.
- Attends meetings as required by the department or institution.
- Attends seminars, forum, and conventions for continues professional development.
MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST (JUNIOR/GENERALIST)
- Prepares human body fluid samples and performs assays in Hematology, Clinical Chemistry and Clinical Microscopy.
- Runs Quality Control every start of the day and validates prior to running of test assays.
- Performs machine calibration when needed.
- Performs simple machine trouble shooting or receives order from authorized service provider
- Encodes data thru Laboratory Information System (LIS) prior to performance of test assays.
- Review results prior to validation.
- Receives request and sample and charges thru Hospital Information System (HIS) accordingly.
- Receives cadaver and dismembered body part with properly filled out forms
- Validates required attachment for release of cadaver, dismembered body part, and still birth or fetus.
- Performs proper phlebotomy techniques both from patients and accepted blood donors.
- Teaches and assists Senior Medical Technologists in the assessment of Medical Technology Interns.
- Assists the senior Medical Technologists in preparation and presentation of necessary and needed documents.
- Attends seminars for continues professional development.
MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN
- Prepares specimen and performs assays under the supervision of a medical technologist.
- Receives request and sample and charges thru Hospital Information System (HIS) accordingly.
- Receives cadaver and dismembered body part with properly filled out forms
- Validates required attachments for release of cadaver, dismembered body part, and still birth or fetus.
- Performs proper phlebotomy techniques both from patients and accepted blood donors.
- Performs simple trouble shooting, preventive maintenance.
- Does errand from the senior Medical Technologists and Chief Medical Technologist.
INSTITUTIONAL WORKER (LABORATORY AIDE/MORGUE ATTENDANT)
- Maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of the laboratory and hospital morgue.
- Helps in the autopsy procedure and releases cadaver to relatives or authorized person.
- Helps in the inventory and storage of reagents and supplies
- Washes and prepares reusable wares for laboratory use.
- Sanitizes areas and instruments and ensures proper disposal of hazardous waste.
- Runs errand relative to the operation of the laboratory.
- Attends seminars, forum, and convention for continues professional development
